Foundation

The European Scientific Society of Ketogenic and Low Carb Alimentation (ESSKLA) was officially approved in January 2018 and is currently in its founding phase.

Organisation

The European Scientific Society of Ketogenic and Low Carb Alimentation is an apolitical, non-profit organisation, dedicated to promoting and coordinating the scientific, philanthropic, intellectual and professional activities of Low Carb and Ketogenic Alimentation in all European countries. The Society’s mission at all times is to serve the health care needs of the general public through the support of science, teaching and research and the quality of service in the field of Nutrition.

Idea

The idea was taken in order to strengthen and unify European Researchers, medical Doctors, dieticians and other professions in the field of nutritional sciences interested in low carb and ketogenic nutrition, giving a platform to ensure competitiveness compared to other events and institutions in the field of nutrition. Furthermore, the ESSKLA will safeguard the general interests of European research of nutrition.

  • The ESSKLA has adopted guiding principles governing its activities and conduct, as well as its interaction with external stakeholders, including industry.
  • The ESSKLA is guided by the principles of independence, quality, objectivity, and transparency when carrying out its mission.
  • The ESSKLA statutes, the ESSKLA Annual Report and information on the ESSKLA’s funding sources will be publicly available on its website.
  • The ESSKLA members, convened in the General Assembly, are its ultimate decision making body.
  • The members of ESSKLA’s Executive Council, committees, subcommittees and working groups work for the society on a voluntary basis and do not receive remuneration other than coverage of their travel expenses.

ESSKLA recognises that partnerships are essential when striving to fulfil and advance its mission and that such partnerships may include the medical industry.

  • In the course of its activities, ESSKLA may thus engage in partnerships with commercial or for profit entities and accept funding such as grants, sponsorships or fee for services from companies (such as participation in the industrial exhibition of its annual congress).
  • Such funding is always based on the common respect of strict ethical principles governing the relationship between the ketogenic and low carb profession and the medical industry and should be governed by clearly understood and agreed upon terms.
  • Both parties always maintain professional autonomy, independence and commitment to the principles of medical science and research.ESSKLA will disclose any grant from a commercial or for profit entity that specifically supports a given activity or specific project in the frame of this activity or project.

ESSKLA Congress & Events Calender

Workshop in Salzburg, Austria with ESSKLA member Dr. Antonio Paoli One of our members, Dr. Antonio Paoli, is going to hold a workshop in Austria at the „TRENDFORUM“.

„TRENDFORUM“ is a Congress for Orthomolecular Medicine and Naturopathy which is going to take place the 14th time in Salzburg from October 19th till October 21st. Dr. Antonio Paoli is Head of Nutrition- and Exercise physiology as well as associate professor of biomedicine at the University of Padova, Italy. His research includes, among other things, the interaction of sport and diet on skeletal muscle metabolism with special focus on ketogenic nutrition, general nutrition, and sports biomechanics. Further, he is editorial board member of “Journal Transnational Medicine” and the “Aging Clinical and Experimental Research. Dr. Paoli is contributing to the “TRENDFORUM” congress with a special workshop regarding ketogenic nutrition. It is called „20 years of intense research in ketogenic nutrition: the latest results of the ketogenic diet for different diseases“.
